John Wooden’s Definition Of Success

John Wooden is considered one of the greatest coaches of all time.  That statement is one of the least controversial one can make about sport.  Recently I’ve learnt that is the case, not only in the English speaking world, but also outside of it.  He is famous for his great success (10 NCAA basketball championships) and for his publications (most famously his Pyramid of Success, for which he never charged a cent).

Alessandro recently included in a comment a youtube clip of a talk that Wooden gave.  It contains many of the nuggets that I’ve quoted before, plus this one; the John Wooden Definition of Success.

Peace of mind, attained only through self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do the best of which you’re capable.

He certainly packs a lot of wisdom into these 17 minutes.  It is well worth the time.
